  Humanities
 Humanities department comment:
NOTE: Students who have not met the UC Entry-level Writing Requirement (Subject A) prior to entrance MUST SATISFY THE REQUIREMENT DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF RESIDENCE AT UCI. THERE ARE TWO WAYS A STUDENT may satisfy the requirement. First, students enrolled in Humanities Core MUST ENROLL in a section designated S/A, as listed below, and receive a grade of "C" (2.0) or better. The second option, open to students NOT enrolled in Humanities Core, is to take Writing 37 or Writing 39A or Writing 39A/PLUS and receive a grade of "C" (2.0) or better.
 Human 1 courses:

NOTE: Choose one of the discussion sections listed directly below the lecture section you have selected.
NOTE: Due to large enrollment, once the student is officially enrolled in a discussion section there will be NO CHANGES made unless the student can EXCHANGE discussion sections with another student.
NOTE: All students enrolling for Humanities 1A, 1AS/A, or H1A must obtain an e-mail easy access account. All study questions as well as other important course information will be available through e-mail. This service is free to all enrolled students. To activate your account visit the web at http://www.nacs.uci.edu/ucinetid/
NOTE: To enroll in Humanities Core 1A, students must have satisfied the UC Entry-level Writing Requirement (Subject A) and official record of any exam taken must be on file with the Admissions Office. UC Entry-level Writing Requirement (Subject A) may be satisfied by one of the following methods: 1) receiving a score of 680 or above on the SAT II Writing exam, 2) receiving a score of 3, 4, or 5 on either of the Advanced Placement English exams, 3) receiving a score of 5, 6, or 7 on the higher level IB English exam, 4) placing into Writing 39B OR Humanities 1A via the UC Analytical Writing Placement (Subject A) exam taken May, 2004 or, 4) completion of the first course of Freshman Composition with a grade of "C" of above at UCI or at another College. Students who have not satisfied the UC Entry-level Writing Requirement (Subject A) will not be allowed to enroll in Humanities Core 1A.
NOTE: Students registered in any section of Humanities Core course are expected to attend the FIRST and SECOND CLASS MEETING of the course or they may be required to drop the course with a drop card.

 Human 195 courses:

NOTE: Students interested in participating in HOT need to first register for the Lecture when your enrollment window opens. You must choose either 0 or 2 units. For 2 units, you will write a short case study of 1 or 2 K-12 students in your group. For both 0 and 2 units, you must attend all tutor-training sessions on campus and all workshops in Santa Ana (no more than 10 hours per quarter, per workshop).
NOTE: H.O.T. may be taken for credit for a total of eight units.
NOTE: Before you enroll in one of the H.O.T. discussion sections, you must have confirmation from the Workshop Leader that you can join his/her section. Each of the following tracks (topics) represents 4 workshops at different days/times, so you must go to the HOT website to check the schedules. The workshop schedules will be available during Welcome Week. To view the schedules and to contact the Workshop Leaders, go to the HOT website: http://www.humanities.uci.edu/hot/
