School of Humanities
 School of Humanities comments:
THE ADD/DROP POLICY FOR ALL COURSES IN THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES IS THAT ADDS AND DROPS MUST BE EFFECTED PRIOR TO THE END OF THE SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (October 7, 2005).
Note: A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.
NOTE: Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.
NOTE: For all non-EAD (electronic add/drop) courses in the School of Humanities, the waitlist for each course is active through the end of the WebReg adjustment period only (September 21, 2005 at 5:00 p.m.). Once instruction begins (September 23, 2005), all adds and drops are subject to the policy of each instructor.
NOTE: Adds, drops and grade/unit changes (all non-EAD courses only) processed within the first two weeks of each quarter via the add/drop/change card require the signature of the instructor. The only exception to this policy is for Humanities Core (course codes 29000-29138). All enrollment changes for Humanities Core are signed in their departmental office, HIB 185.
  French
 French course numbers 1 - 2:

NOTE: Students who have successfully completed French language courses in high school enroll in French language courses at UCI according to their years of previous study. In general, one year of high school French will be considered equal to one quarter of a UCI French language course. Thus, for example, students with two years of high school French will enroll in French 1C, while students who have completed three years in high school will enroll in French 2A. Students enrolling in 2A, however, will be informed of their level of competency in the language by taking a diagnostic test the first week of class. Students who enroll in 2A based on their high school background, but who have scored below what is expected for successful performance in 2A at UCI, will be informed that they may either remain in 2A or choose to enroll in 1C instead.
NOTE: Exceptions to the above-stated enrollment formula must have the approval of the French Department Language Program Director.
NOTE: Students with credit for previous college-level courses in French, should check with the Humanities Counseling Office in HIB 143 (949-824-5132) to determine the appropriate course to enroll in at UCI.
NOTE: A student with a score of "3" on either French Advanced Placement exam may enroll directly into French 2A. A student with a score of "4" or "5" on either French Advanced Placement exam is eligible to enroll directly into French 100A; however, full credit will be awarded for French 2C if the student wants to take French 2C first for review.
