School of Humanities
 School of Humanities comments:
THE ADD/DROP POLICY FOR ALL COURSES IN THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES IS THAT ADDS AND DROPS MUST BE EFFECTED PRIOR TO THE END OF THE SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (October 7, 2005).
Note: A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.
NOTE: Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.
NOTE: For all non-EAD (electronic add/drop) courses in the School of Humanities, the waitlist for each course is active through the end of the WebReg adjustment period only (September 21, 2005 at 5:00 p.m.). Once instruction begins (September 23, 2005), all adds and drops are subject to the policy of each instructor.
NOTE: Adds, drops and grade/unit changes (all non-EAD courses only) processed within the first two weeks of each quarter via the add/drop/change card require the signature of the instructor. The only exception to this policy is for Humanities Core (course codes 29000-29138). All enrollment changes for Humanities Core are signed in their departmental office, HIB 185.
  Humanities
 Course Codes 29000 - 29054:

NOTE: Students registered in any section of the Humanities Core course are expected to attend both the FIRST and SECOND class meetings of the course or they may be required to drop the course with a drop card.
NOTE: Due to large enrollment, once the student is officially enrolled in a discussion section there will be NO CHANGES made unless the student can EXCHANGE discussion sections with another student.
NOTE: All students enrolling for Humanities 1A, 1AS/A, or H1A must obtain an e-mail easy access account. All study questions as well as other important course information will be available through e-mail. This service is free to all enrolled students. To activate your account visit the web at http://www.nacs.uci.edu/ucinetid/index.html.
NOTE: To enroll in Humanities Core 1A, students must have satisfied the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement and official record of any exam taken must be on file with the Admissions Office. The UC Entry Level Writing Requirement may be satisfied by one of the following methods: 1) receiving a score of 680 or above on the SAT II Writing exam, 2) receiving a score of 3, 4, or 5 on either of the Advanced Placement English exams, 3) receiving a score of 5, 6, or 7 on the higher level IB English exam, 4) placing into Writing 39B OR Humanities 1A via the UC Analytical Writing Exam taken May 14, 2005 or, 4) completion of the first course of Freshman Composition with a grade of "C" of above at UCI or at another College. Students who have not satisfied the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement will not be allowed to enroll in Humanities Core 1A .

 Course Codes 29060 - 29083:

NOTE: To enroll in Humanities Core 1AS/A, students MUST have taken the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam. No student will be allowed to enroll in S/A sections of Humanities Core without having taken the exam and having placed into Writing 39A, Writing 37, or Humanities 1AS/A.
NOTE: Students who have not met the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement prior to entrance MUST SATISFY THE REQUIREMENT DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF RESIDENCE AT UCI. There are two ways a student may satisfy the requirement. First, students enrolled in Humanities Core MUST ENROLL in a section designated S/A, as listed below, and receive a grade of "C" (2.0) or better. The second option, open to students NOT enrolled in Humanities Core, is to take Writing 37 or Writing 39A or Writing 39A/PLUS and receive a grade of "C" (2.0) or better.
NOTE: Humanities Core 1A S/A writing sections provide six (6) units of "workload credit", of which four (4) units count toward "baccalaureate credit." Workload credit is used to determine a student's full-time status for Financial Aid, Housing, etc. "Baccalaureate credit" applies towards units for graduation and is used to compute GPA.
