School of Humanities
 School of Humanities comments:
The ADD/DROP POLICY for ALL courses in the SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES is that ADDS and DROPS must be effected PRIOR to the END of the SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (January 19, 2007).
A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.
Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.
For all non-EAD (electronic add/drop) courses in the School of Humanities, the waitlist for each course is DEACTIVATED at the end of the WebReg adjustment period (5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007). If you have not been admitted to the class via the wait list by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007, you are no longer on any wait list for any of the non-EAD courses in Humanities. Once instruction begins (January 5, 2007), all adds and drops are subject to the policy of each instructor.
Adds, drops and grade/unit changes (all non-EAD courses only) processed within the first two weeks of each quarter via the add/drop/change card require the signature of the instructor. There are two exceptions to this policy:
 1) HUMANITIES CORE COURSE (course codes 29000-29110):
All signatures for Humanities Core courses are obtained in their departmental office, HIB 185. Signatures will NOT be provided by instructors in the individual course sections.
 2) COMPOSITION/WRITING COURSES (Writing 39A, 39AP with Lab, 39B, 39C, 139W):
Although enrollment changes for all composition courses are provided in the individual course sections, the card will NOT have an actual instructor's signature on it. Students who are allowed to add or drop any composition course mentioned above will be given a card that is pre-stamped with "COMPOSITION OFC" on it. Students who obtain a stamped card can submit the card directly to the Registrar's Office - no further signature is required.
  Humanities
 Human 1 courses:

Choose one of the discussion sections listed directly below the lecture section you have selected.
Due to large enrollment, once the student is officially enrolled in a discussion section there will be NO CHANGES made unless the student can EXCHANGE discussion sections with another student.
Students registered in any section of Humanities Core course are expected to attend the FIRST and SECOND CLASS MEETING of the course or they may be required to drop the course with a drop card.
Students who have not met the UC Entry-Level Writing Requirement MUST SATISFY THE REQUIREMENT DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF ENROLLMENT AT UCI. Students enrolling in Humanities 1B who did not satisfy the requirement fall quarter by earning a "C" or greater in Humanities 1AS/A, MUST ENROLL in the lecture and section designated S/A, as listed below, and earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in the course.

The Humanities Core 1BS/A writing section provides six (6) units of "workload credit," of which four (4) units count toward "baccalaureate credit." Workload credit is used to determine a student's full-time status for Financial Aid, Housing, etc. "Baccalaureate credit" applies towards units for graduation and is used to compute GPA.
Humanities Core 1BS/A, Lec A, and the discussion section below is open only to students who did not complete Core 1AS/A with a grade of "C" or above in fall 2006. The S/A section must be taken for a letter grade.

 Course Codes 29312 - 29324:

Students interested in participating in H.O.T. need to first register for the Lecture when your enrollment window opens. You must choose either 0 or 2 units. For 2 units, you will write a short case study of one or two K-12 students in your group. For both 0 and 2 units, you must attend all tutor-training sessions on campus and all workshops in Santa Ana (no more than 10 hours per quarter, per workshop). H.O.T. may be taken for credit for a maximum of eight units. Any enrollment beyond the eight unit maximum allowed must be for "zero" units.
Before you enroll in one of the H.O.T. discussion sections, you must have confirmation from the Workshop Leader that you can join his/her section. Each of the following tracks (topics) represents 4 workshops at different days/times, so you must go to the HOT website to check the schedules. The workshop schedules should be available online by November 13, 2006. To view the schedules and to contact the Workshop Leaders, go to the H.O.T. website: http://humanities.uci.edu/hot/.
