School of Humanities comments:

The ADD/DROP POLICY for ALL courses in the SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES is that ADDS and DROPS must be effected PRIOR to the END of the SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (January 18, 2008).

Effective Winter 2007, any exceptions to the two week add/drop deadline must be requested by petition and require approval of the Undergraduate Dean. To attempt to add or drop a course after January 18, 2008, complete the Late Add/Drop/Change petition (available in 143 HIB and at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad), seek approval from your instructor, and then the Undergraduate Dean.

A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.

Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.

For all non-EAD (electronic add/drop) courses in the School of Humanities, the waitlist for each course is DEACTIVATED at the end of the WebReg adjustment period (5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008). If you have not been admitted to the class via the wait list by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008, you are no longer on any wait list for any of the non-EAD courses in Humanities. Once instruction begins (January 7, 2008), all adds and drops for non-EAD courses are subject to the policy of each instructor.

Adds, drops and grade/unit changes (all non-EAD courses only) processed within the first two weeks of each quarter via the add/drop/change card require the signature of the instructor. There are two exceptions to this policy:

1) HUMANITIES CORE COURSE (course codes 29000-29113):

All signatures for Humanities Core courses are obtained in their departmental office, HIB 185. Signatures will NOT be provided by instructors in the individual course sections.

2) COMPOSITION/WRITING COURSES (Writing 39A, 39AP with Lab, 39B, 39C, 139W):

Although enrollment changes for all composition courses are provided in the individual course sections, the card will NOT have an actual instructor's signature on it. Students who are allowed to add or drop any composition course mentioned above will be given a card that is pre-stamped with "COMPOSITION OFC" on it. Students who obtain a stamped card can submit the card directly to the Registrar's Office - no further signature is required.

Vietnamese

Vietnamese department comments:

Students registered in any section of Vietnamese 1B or 2B MUST ATTEND THE FIRST and SECOND class meeting of the course Or will be required to drop the class with a drop card.

Students who wish to continue to the next level of Vietnamese, i.e. 1B, 2B, or 3B should contact their instructor for approval. Authorization codes will be distributed in class beginning the week of November 19, 2007. Enrollment preference will be given to students who are completing 1A, 2A or 3A in fall 2007.

Vietmse course numbers 1 - 3:

Students wishing to enroll in Vietnamese language classes for the first time in winter 2008 must take the placement test on November 19, 2007 from 3:00-4:30 pm. Contact the Testing Center at testoff@uci.edu or call (949)824-6207 or visit their web site at http://www.testingoffice.uci.edu for details about registration. For all other inquiries, contact Tri Tran, Vietnamese Language Advisor, at tritran@uci.edu. Bring the test results with you to the Faculty Oral Interview on November 20, 2007 between 10 am and 12:00 pm in HIB 468. Placement information and authorization codes will be issued during the interview.
