School of Humanities comments:

ADDS AND DROPS IN THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES MUST BE PROCESSED PRIOR TO THE END OF THE SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (April 9, 2010).

Any exception to the two week add/drop deadline must be requested by petition and requires approval of the Undergraduate Dean. For more information, or to download the required form, please visit http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/response/response.php

PREREQUISITE VERIFICATION:

Students who did not meet the lower-division writing requirement at UCI must be authorized for those courses in Humanities which require lower-division writing as prerequisite. Continuing students can submit requests via the on-line Course Authorization Form available at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/response/response.php#forms on the Humanities Undergraduate Study web site. New students must bring unofficial transcripts to the Undergraduate Counseling Office in HIB 143 to request authorization.

PREREQUISITES:

If you satisfied prerequisites for a course at another college, you must contact your academic counseling office to activate your eligibility to enroll in the course.

LAB FEE POLICY

A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.

Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.

If a course has a "B" or "X" in the Restriction column, the student must contact the department to obtain a code to add or drop the course.

Chinese

Chinese department comments:

Students intending to enroll in a Chinese language class for the first time in spring 2010, must take a placement test. Testing will be offered Wednesday, February 17, 2010. You may register for the placement test with the Testing Center through their web site, http://www.testingoffice.uci.edu.

After the test, bring the language background survey with you to the Faculty Oral Interview offered Thursday, February 18 or Friday, February 19, 2010, between 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in HIB 452. Find out your placement and obtain an authorization code to register.

For additional test information, contact the Testing Center at testcenter@uci.edu or call 949-824-6207. For all other inquiries, contact Ruohmei Hsieh, Chinese Language Coordinator at rhsieh@uci.edu, or at 949-824-2678 during the Faculty Oral Interview.

Chinese course numbers 1 - 3:

Students registered in any section of Chinese 1C, 2C, or 3C MUST ATTEND THE FIRST and SECOND class meeting of the course. Any student who does not meet this condition will be required to drop the class.
