School of Humanities comments:

ADDS AND DROPS IN THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES MUST BE PROCESSED PRIOR TO THE END OF THE SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (October 8, 2010)

Any exception to the two week add/drop deadline must be requested by petition and requires approval of the Undergraduate Dean. For more information, or to download the required form, please visit http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/response/response.php

Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.

PREREQUISITE VERIFICATION:

Students who did not meet the lower-division writing requirement at UCI must be authorized for those courses in Humanities which require lower-division writing as prerequisite. Continuing students can submit requests via the on-line Course Authorization Form available at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/response/response.php#forms on the Humanities Undergraduate Study web site. New students must bring unofficial transcripts to the Undergraduate Counseling Office in HIB 143 to request authorization.

PREREQUISITES:

If you satisfied prerequisites for a course at another college, you must contact your academic counseling office to activate your eligibility to enroll in the course.

LAB FEE POLICY

A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.

INDEPENDENT STUDY PROPOSAL FORMS:

To enroll in a 199 Independent Study course offered through the School of Humanities, students are required to submit an approved Independent Study proposal form (available in HIB 143 or online at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/current/forms.php) by the end of the second week of classes.

TO ENROLL IN A KOREAN LANGUAGE CLASS:

Continuing students intending to enroll in a Korean language class for the first time in Fall 2010, MUST take a placement test. Testing will be offered Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Students may register for this exam with the Testing Center through their web site, http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu. For additional information, contact the Testing Center at testcenter@uci.edu or call 949-824-6207. Bring the test result with you to the Faculty Oral Interview offered Thursday, May 20, 2010 between 10:00 a.m. and noon, in HIB 448. Placement information and authorization codes will be issued during the interview.

Incoming freshmen and transfer students wanting to enroll in a Korean language class in Fall 2010, may access the Testing Center through their web site, http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu for details about registration and dates of placement tests. For additional information, please e-mail the Testing Center at testcenter@uci.edu, or call 949-824-6207. The Faculty Oral Interview for incoming students will be September 22 or 23, 2010 between 10:00 and noon in HIB 448.

Continuing students who wish to enroll in Korean 2A or 3A in Fall 2010 will be issued an authorization code in class. Enrollment preference will be given to students who are completing Korean 1C or 2C in Spring 2010.

Any student enrolled in any section of Korean 1A, 2A, or 3A MUST attend the FIRST AND SECOND class meetings or will be required to drop the course.
