School of Humanities comments:

ADDS AND DROPS IN THE SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES MUST BE PROCESSED PRIOR TO THE END OF THE SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (October 8, 2010)

Any exception to the two week add/drop deadline must be requested by petition and requires approval of the Undergraduate Dean. For more information, or to download the required form, please visit http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/response/response.php

Enrollment in lecture and discussion, lecture and studio, lecture and lab, lecture and studio and discussion, etc. is required for all courses offered by the School of Humanities, as well as any courses cross-listed with a Humanities offering.

PREREQUISITE VERIFICATION:

Students who did not meet the lower-division writing requirement at UCI must be authorized for those courses in Humanities which require lower-division writing as prerequisite. Continuing students can submit requests via the on-line Course Authorization Form available at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/response/response.php#forms on the Humanities Undergraduate Study web site. New students must bring unofficial transcripts to the Undergraduate Counseling Office in HIB 143 to request authorization.

PREREQUISITES:

If you satisfied prerequisites for a course at another college, you must contact your academic counseling office to activate your eligibility to enroll in the course.

LAB FEE POLICY

A lab fee may be assessed for those courses using the Humanities computer labs for class sessions.

INDEPENDENT STUDY PROPOSAL FORMS:

To enroll in a 199 Independent Study course offered through the School of Humanities, students are required to submit an approved Independent Study proposal form (available in HIB 143 or online at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/current/forms.php) by the end of the second week of classes.

TO ENROLL IN A VIETNAMESE LANGUAGE CLASS:

Students wishing to enroll in Vietnamese language classes for the first time in Fall 2010 must take the placement test. Testing for continuing students will be offered Monday, March 29 and Thursday, May 20, 2010. New F10 students should consult the Testing Center web site at http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu for testing dates and details about test registration. Bring the test results with you to the Faculty Oral Interview in Murray Krieger Hall 550 on: Wednesday, March 31, 2010, or Friday, May 21, 2010, between 1 pm and 5 pm, or on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, between 10 am and 12 noon. Placement information and authorization codes will be issued during the oral interview. If you are unable to come during the times scheduled for the Oral Interview, please contact Tri C. Tran at tritran@uci.edu in order to set up an appointment.

Continuing students who wish to enroll in Vietnamese 2A or 3A in Fall 2010 will be issued an authorization code in class. Enrollment preference will be given to those students who successfully complete Vietnamese 1C or 2C in Spring 2010.

Students registered in any section of Vietnamese 1A, 2A or 3A MUST ATTEND THE FIRST and SECOND class meeting of the course or will be required to drop the class.
