HUMANITIES CORE COURSE (course codes 29000-29113):

HUMANITIES CORE COURSE ADD/DROP POLICY: ADDS and DROPS must be effected PRIOR to the END of the SECOND WEEK OF CLASSES (January 14, 2011).

Any exception to the two week ADD/DROP deadline must be requested as an Enrollment Exception via the online StudentAccess system after second week for DROPs and after third week for ADDs and requires approval of the Undergraduate Dean.

All authorization codes for Humanities Core courses are obtained in their departmental office, HIB 185. Authorization codes will NOT be provided by instructors in the individual course sections. Please contact Janice Gregory in the Humanities Core Course office (HIB 185), 824-1964, jrgreg@uci.edu, to obtain authorization codes for Humanities Core Courses.

Students registered in any section of the Humanities Core course are expected to attend both the FIRST and SECOND class meetings of the course or they may be required to drop the course.

Students enrolling in Humanities 1B who did not satisfy the requirement fall quarter by earning a "C" or greater in Humanities 1AS/A, MUST ENROLL in the lecture and section designated S/A, as listed below, and earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in the course.

Humanities Core 1BS/A writing sections provide six (6) units of "workload credit", of which four (4) units count toward "baccalaureate credit." Workload credit is used to determine a student's full-time status for Financial Aid, Housing, etc. "Baccalaureate credit" applies towards units for graduation and is used to compute GPA.

During the first two weeks of the quarter, HUMAN 1BS/A will have a "B" or "X" restriction. Please contact Janice Gregory in the Humanities Core Course office (HIB 185), 824-1964, jrgreg@uci.edu, to obtain authorization codes for HUMAN 1BS/A.

For 29034 Humanities Core 1B, Dis B14, enrollment priority will be given to students currently enrolled in any German course between German 1 through German 130, but it is open to all students eligible to take Human 1B.

In addition to a Humanities Core lecture and a coordinated discussion section, students should register for one of the 0-unit forums (subject to space availability). Forums do not meet weekly. The times and dates of forum meetings will be announced during lectures throughout the quarter.

Humanities Core H1B sections are open to students in the Campuswide Honors Program ONLY. During the first two weeks of the quarter, HUMAN H1B will have a "B" or "X" restriction. Please contact the Campuswide Honors Program at 824-8440 to obtain authorization codes for HUMAN H1B.
