Chemistry department comments:

DROP OR CHANGE: The deadline to drop courses or change the grade option or variable units in the School of Physical Sciences is the end of Week 2 by 5:00PM. Drops can be made in WebReg.

ADD: The deadline to add courses in the Department of Chemistry without permission using WebReg is the end of Week 2 by 5:00PM Please NOTE: This deadline is earlier than the School of Physical Sciences week 3 deadline.

NO CHEMISTRY LABORATORY CHANGES AFTER WEEK 1.

PREREQUISITES: Can't access Chemistry courses? Have transfer credit or took the equivalent at another institution for a Chem course? Fax or email, or bring a copy of your transcript or course confirmation to the Chemistry Undergraduate Program Office in NS2 1101 in order to clear the prerequisite prior to your enrollment. (Email: undergrad@chem.ps.uci.edu; Fax: 949.824.8571). You may also be asked to provide a course syllabus.

If you don't meet the prerequisites for the course, you will be dropped from the course by the Chemistry Department.

WAITLIST: Placement on the waitlist does not guarantee enrollment in the class. If you are unable to add through the waitlist system, you must register in an open section using WebReg by the enrollment deadline. REPEAT STUDENTS:

1) The same course may not be repeated more than once during the academic year.

2) Receive a D+, D, D-, F, NR, NP grade? Enroll on the FIRST day of classes, Monday, April 2, 2012, at noon.

3) Receive a C-? Enroll on the THIRD day of classes, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at noon.

IMPORTANT LABORATORY INFORMATION: LAB FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

1) Safety goggles and lab aprons must be brought to every lab section. Refer to the following web sites for announcements: General Chemistry Laboratory web site http://eee.uci.edu/programs/gchem or Organic Chemistry Laboratory web site http://eee.uci.edu.

2) NOTE: A $50.00 lab fee will be added to your Zot bill starting at 5pm on Friday at the end of the first week of classes, April 6, 2012. If you switch sections during the first week of classes, be sure you officially change your enrollment before 5pm Friday, April 6, 2012; otherwise, you will be double-billed for the lab fee. No lab fee reversals will be considered after the quarter ends.

CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT is REQUIRED for chemistry courses. Enroll in a Chemistry lecture, a discussion associated with that specific lecture, a Chemistry laboratory, and a laboratory lecture or lab discussion when applicable. (Exception: Unless otherwise stated or if you have prior credit for lecture or laboratory. If you are uncertain about the requirements for your major, refer to an academic advisor in you major). Attendance for week 1 is mandatory.

Courses with co-requisites may require you to add the co-requisite requirement before adding the course.

Chemistry 1LB will be deleted effective winter quarter 2012 and no longer offered.
