TO ENROLL IN A JAPANESE LANGUAGE CLASS:

STUDENTS WITH NO PRIOR BACKGROUND IN JAPANESE may enroll directly into 1A after signing the exempt form. The form is available from the UCI Testing Center, 3040 AIRB).

Incoming freshmen and transfer students wanting to enroll in a Japanese language class in Fall 2012 can get details about registration and dates of placement tests offered for new students during the summer months via the Testing Center's web site: http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu. For students who complete placement tests during the summer, oral tests (interviews) will be offered on Monday, September 24 and Wednesday, September 26, 2012 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in HIB 379. Be sure to bring your language background survey and test results with you. Authorization codes will be issued during the interview. Please contact hriggs@uci.edu for more information.

After completing the placement test, please contact Hidemi Riggs (hriggs@uci.edu) or (949) 824-6483 to schedule an oral interview. Interviews will be give on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 and Tuesday, May 22, 2012 between 2:00pm and 3:00pm., in HIB 379. Make sure to bring your language background survey and test results with you. Placement information and authorization codes will be issued during the interview.

For additional information, please call 949-824-5207 or E-mail the Testing Center at testcenter@uci.edu. Students registered in any section of Japanese MUST ATTEND THE FIRST and SECOND class meetings. Any student who does not meet this condition will be required to drop the class.
