TO ENROLL IN A CHINESE LANGUAGE CLASS:

Continuing students intending to enroll in a Chinese language class for the first time in Fall 2013 must take a placement test. Testing will be offered Wednesday, May 08, 2013. You may register for an exam with the UCI Academic Testing Center through their web site, http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu. Following the test, bring your Language Background Survey and appear for a Faculty Oral Interview offered Thursday, May 09, 2013-Friday, May 10, 2013 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., in HIB 452. Placement result and authorization to enroll will be issued at the interview.

Incoming freshmen and transfer students wanting to enroll in a Chinese language class in Fall 2013 may access the UCI Academic Testing Center through their web site, http://www.testingcenter.uci.edu for details about registration and dates of placement tests offered for new students during the summer months. Faculty Oral Interview for students who tested during the summer will be offered on a walk-in basis on Monday, September 23-Wednesday, September 25, 2013 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in HIB 452. Requests for Faculty Oral Interview in the summer can be made by contacting the Chinese program at <rhsieh@uci.edu>.

Students registered in any section of Chinese 1A, 2A, or 3A MUST ATTEND THE FIRST and SECOND class meetings. Any student who does not meet this condition will be required to drop the class.
