Enrollment Period Definitions

    Enrollment by Window (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.)

    Continuing Students
Each student is assigned a 48 hour enrollment window. When the window opens, a student can access WebReg for 48 hours. After the 48 hours, that student can access WebReg only between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. (down time 4 a.m.-6 a.m.). Once all enrollment windows are open, Open Enrollment begins at 7 p.m. that day.

New Graduate Students (fall quarter only)
All new graduate students are assigned the same enrollment window. When the window opens, new graduate students can access WebReg. Open Enrollment begins at 7 p.m. that day. Students admitted and SIR'd after the new graduate student window has opened will be able to access to WebReg during Open Enrollment. The 48 hour limit is not enforced.

Students are NEW their 1st quarter of attendance (e.g., Fall Quarter). Students are CONTINUING the 2nd quarter of attendance (e.g., Winter Quarter).

New Transfer Students (fall quarter only)
All new transfer students are assigned enrollment windows. When the student has satisfied academic advising, their department allows the student to use WebReg to enroll in classes. Once all new transfer student enrollment windows are open, Open Enrollment begins at 7 p.m. that day. The 48 hour limit is not enforced.

Students are NEW their 1st quarter of attendance (e.g., Fall Quarter). Students are CONTINUING the 2nd quarter of attendance (e.g., Winter Quarter).

    New Freshmen (fall quarter only)
All new freshmen students are assigned enrollment windows that open after the completion of all Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP) sessions. Students attending SPOP are allowed to use WebReg during their SPOP enrollment sessions. Students who do not attend SPOP retain their original enrollment window. Once all new freshmen enrollment windows are open, Open Enrollment begins at 7 p.m. that day. The 48 hour limit is not enforced.

Students are NEW their 1st quarter of attendance (e.g., Fall Quarter). Students are CONTINUING the 2nd quarter of attendance (e.g., Winter Quarter).

18 Unit Enrollment Limit Lifted (Undergraduates)
Undergraduate enrollment is initially limited to 18.0 units. See Quarterly Academic Calendar for dates when the 18.0 unit limit is lifted. Students must login at 12:00 noon or after on the day the limit is lifted in order to enroll in more than 18 units. Students logging in prior to noon must first logout and then log back in after 12:00 noon before enrolling in more than 18 units.

    Open Enrollment and Waitlist Release

During Open Enrollment, students can access WebReg to make changes to their course enrollment. WebReg is available during Open Enrollment 22 hours a day (down time 4 a.m. - 6 a.m.). The 48 hour time limit used during the Enrollment by Window Period is no longer in effect during Open Enrollment.

The fee payment deadline occurs during Open Enrollment. Therefore, at the fee payment deadline WebReg becomes unavailable for use for approximately 72 hours. During this time, students are dropped from classes for non-payment of registration fees or for having a hold on their record. Departments have the opportunity to make changes to the Schedule of Classes, such as removing restrictions, changing maximum capacities or opening new sections. Also during this time, classes may appear to have seats available; this will change when the waitlists are released.

The Registrar's Office releases the waitlist system 48 hours after the fee payment deadline. Releasing the waitlist system initiates an automated process to fill seats vacated by students who were dropped from their classes with students who are on the waitlist.

When WebReg is again available, the 18.0 unit limit is lifted; students who were dropped from courses for non-payment of fees can re-enroll in open courses; students who were dropped from courses due to a hold on their record can re-enroll in open courses if the hold has been removed.

All waitlists are deactivated on Friday of the second week of instruction at 5 p.m.
